Post Brexit: Navigating the UK immigration system

Following the UK’s exit from the European Union last year, the immigration system and employer sponsorship process has changed.

Despite the new system being in place for some time, it is still the case that some of the employers we speak to are unclear on how the post-Brexit immigration system works, who is eligible or what their options are when it comes to the sponsorship of skilled foreign talent.

This guide summarises the reasons behind current skills shortages (related to a changing immigration system although exacerbated by the Covid pandemic), how the system works and what employers and applicants need to do – to receive or provide sponsorship to lawfully live and work in the UK.
